Hardpan Equipment Blasting is a mobile sandblasting service based in Apex, North Carolina, serving contractors, dealers, fleets and farms across the western Triangle.
Why a blasting rig, and why here
Anyone who has run a machine in Wake or Chatham County knows the red clay. Dry, it is an abrasive that wears paint off pin bosses and track frames. Wet, it packs into every belly pan and undercarriage and holds moisture against steel all winter. Hardpan is the name for the dense layer under it that a bucket has to fight through, and it seemed like the right name for a business whose whole job is undoing what that ground does to iron.
The rig is built for the yard, not the shop. Compressor, blast pot, media, ground containment and primer ride on one truck, so a machine never leaves your fence line to get refinished. That matters more here than most places because the Triangle’s construction pace does not leave room for a week of haul time, and a lowboy move for a 20 ton excavator costs about what the blast does.
How a yard day runs
- You send photos and a location. The quote comes off the published table plus the mobilization line for your county.
- The machine is parked on a level pad with clearance around it, pressure washed if possible.
- We mask rods, hoses, glass, electrical and plates, lay containment, and blast to bare metal.
- Primer goes on the same afternoon before flash rust can start.
- Spent media and old coating leave in our truck. Your painter gets clean primed steel.
Why the prices are printed
Fleet managers, dealers and farm owners budget the same way: they need a number before they can put a machine on the schedule. Printing the per-machine ranges, the primer add, and the mobilization by county means the budget conversation happens before the truck rolls, and the invoice matches the quote. That page was written by the operator, not a marketing desk, and it changes only when the costs do.
What we will not do
- Blast with silica sand. Silica-free media only, under the OSHA respirable dust rules.
- Leave spent media or old paint on your ground or in a drain.
- Prime over rust, or skip primer to save an hour.
- Quote one number and invoice another.
